SIMARION

Introduction to Simarion

Simarion is a computer system consisting of a free set of integrated tools that allow educators to create and publish 3-dimensional interactive educational simulations

The primary aim of the system is to serve as a concept illustrator and evaluator.

Educators can create simulations containing components such as audios, videos, images and 3-dimensional animated objects.

Simulations and components may be distributed for free or be registered and made available at a fee.

Simulations and components are grouped together in domains and domain categories.

Domains may be registered against an owner, who accepts responsibility for the content of the domain.

Advantages of Simarion

Cost: The Simarion system tools can be downloaded and used for free.

Reliability: Simarion only requires an internet connection when activating registered simulations. Simarion is therefore not dependent on a stable internet connection.

Sharing: The Simarion user community can create and share components such as audios, videos, images and 3-dimensional animated objects, whilst still maintaining ownership and benefiting financially when their components are used commercially.

Protection of intellectual property: Simarion stores simulations and simulation components in proprietary formats, and can only be used within  the system constraints.

Safety:  Simulations are stored as text, video, image and audio files and can therefore be distributed and loaded safely.

Simplicity:  Simarion was designed to enable developers with limited computer skills to create complicated simulations with relative ease.

Short learning curve:  Tutorials for the Simarion system tools are available as Simarion simulations. Developers can start creating simulations in a matter of hours.

Portability:  The Simarion system and simulations can be copied to and run directly from external storage devices  without any installation requirements.

Compatibility: The Simarion system can run on any version of Microsoft Windows.

Hardware requirements:  The system was designed to run on any entry-level Microsoft Windows tablet or PC, requiring little memory and processing power.

Support:  Simarion is a dynamic and evolving system. Practical requests for system enhancements are evaluated and implemented within days.
