Philosophy and the future
We believe that all learners are entitled to a good education.
We believe that all
learners
are entitled to be taught in the language of their
choice.
We believe that pupils of the same age should socialize and learn together
at their own tempo.
We believe that different teaching methods benefit different
learners.
We believe in the retention of teaching knowledge and experience.
We believe in a collaborative educational system where both educators and learners contribute to study materials and techniques in a controlled environment.
We believe in a classroom environment where pupils are taught theory by computers, whilst practically monitored and evaluated by teachers.
Philosophical foundations
The South African education system is tasked to equip South Africans with the skills required to be competitive in a rapid growing technological world.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Competitiveness Report 2015 – 2016 ranked South Africa last in terms of its quality of math and science education. The country also performed poorly in the quality of the education system ranking – 138th out of 140 countries.
The South African Department of Education has acknowledged the problems, citing a shortage of teachers, underqualified teachers and poor teacher performance.
In the classroom, this results in poor learner standards, a lack of classroom discipline, and is exacerbated by insufficient resources and inadequate infrastructure.
On a government level, difficulties have been caused by a failure of appropriate inspection and monitoring, and confusion caused by changing curricula without proper communication and training.
All this has lead to massive demoralisation and disillusionment among teachers and a negative and worsening perception of the teaching profession.
Unrealistic expectations are placed on teachers, parents and learners in an attempt to meet educational goals, resulting in an ever growing alternative schooling sector.
E-learning today
Recently the growth of the e-learning sector has increased exponentially in the technolgy area.
According to the Pearson global report on education, East Asian countries like South Korea tops the academic outcome rankings, followed by Japan (2nd), Singapore (3rd) and Hong Kong (4th). These successes are mainly attributed to the investments made in e-learning.
Our approach to e-learning
The Oxford dictionary defines e-learning as “learning conducted via electronic media, typically on the Internet”.
In order to meet our philosophical goals, we are required to provide e-learning solutions with 0% downtime. For this reason we have invested in e-learning solutions that do not require a stable internet connection, and that is not subject to a single point of failure.
